26 Day 1. Arrive Kunming. Be met on arrival at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Reception. Stay (Two Nights): Grand Park Kunming Hotel. Day 2. Kunming, Stone Forest. Like a Local – travel to the World Heritage- listed Stone Forest, a collection of towering karst rock pillars that have the appearance of petrified trees. After returning to Kunming, tonight head for a local restaurant to indulge in an 'Across the Bridge Noodles' dinner. Enhance Your Journey: see a dance-musical, Dynamic Yunnan, tonight (see page 38). BD Day 3. Kunming, Dali. Fly to Dali, at the base of Cangshan Mountain. Here, discover Dali's Ancient City, capital of the Bai Kingdom during the 8th and 9th centuries. Later, visit Three Pagodas Park. Special Stay – enjoy a night at the 5-Star Gurong Hotel in Dali with gorgeous views of the mountain. Stay: Dali, Gurong Hotel. Enhance Your Journey: Dine on Yak Steak at the Yunnan Cafe Bar (see page 38). B Day 4. Dali, Xizhou, Lijiang. In the village of Xizhou, tour a market and visit an embroidery school. Then enjoy a boat ride to see trained cormorants catch fish to bring to the fisherman. Later, continue to Lijiang. A Taste of China – tonight dine at Mishi Restaurant. Stay (Three Nights): Lijiang, Lijiang Manxin Hotel & Resorts Dayan. BD Day 5. Lijiang. Enjoy a day at leisure to explore the many alleys and canals in the Old Town of Lijiang. Enhance Your Journey: See the fabled marble bridge at Black Dragon Pool Park or dine out tonight on Pork Rib Hot Pot (see page 38). B Day 6. Lijiang. Today head for Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Like a Local – ride a cable car to a viewing platform and absorb panoramas of the snow-capped peaks. Later, Like a Local – attend the Impression Lijiang Show, then stop in the village of Baisha for lunch. BL Day 7. Lijiang, Shangri-La. Take in views of the Yangtze River today on your way to Shangri-La. Along the way, stop at Tiger Leaping Gorge and enjoy lunch in a local village. Stay (Two Nights): Shangri-La, Paradise Hotel. BL Day 8. Shangri-La. Like a Local – visit the 17th-century Songzanlin Monastery, then enjoy free time. Enhance Your Journey: enjoy a guided tour in Pudacuo National Park (see page 38). B Day 9. Shangri-La, Chengdu. Visit to the home of a local Tibetan family then see the world's largest Tibetan prayer wheel in Lijang's Old Town before flying to Chengdu. Stay (Two Nights): Chengdu, Tian Fu Sunshine Hotel. B Day 10 Chengdu, Leshan. After breakfast set out for the city of Leshan. Like a Local – board a boat to take in views of the 71-metre-high Leshan Giant Buddha. Overlooking the confluence of three rivers, this is the largest stone Buddha in the world.
