35 Day 9. Whistler, Vancouver. Spend this morning at leisure to explore Whistler as you wish. Later, travel along the Sea to Sky Highway to Vancouver and enjoy a special Farewell Dinner this evening. Enhance Your Journey: this morning in Whistler, you may like to explore nearby forests by Tree Trek or Zip Trek or perhaps set off on a Blackcomb Glacier Jeep Safari. Alternatively, search for bears on an insightful ecology tour (see pages 83-84). Stay: Vancouver, Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel. BD Day 10. Vancouver, Embark Cruise. After a leisurely morning in Vancouver, board your premium cruise ship. Stay (Seven Nights): Holland America Line's ms Nieuw Amsterdam. BD Day 11. Inside Passage. Enjoy a full day at sea at the beginning of your incredible journey. Relax and absorb the majestic scenery as your ship wends its way past dramatic rocky headlands and glides over the frigid waters of the Inside Passage. BLD Day 12. Juneau, Tracy Arm. Today, visit Juneau, which is Alaska's capital. Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the massive Mendenhall Glacier and Juneau Icefields are situated at the city's back door. Spend some time in Juneau to take in the lush terrain or perhaps make your way to the town and explore the rustic shops located here. Alternatively, you may also like to experience an exhilarating dog sled ride over a glacier. Perhaps sample salmon baked over a fire or even try your hand at panning for gold (all at own expense). BLD Day 13. Skagway. Today you'll dock at the port of Skagway, which is located at the northernmost point of the Inside Passage. Skagway was once a frontier town and gateway to the Klondike and still celebrates its gold rush past to this day. You will find a variety of stores and saloons in town that capture the excitement and history of the gold rush days. Here you'll also have the opportunity to learn more about gold prospecting or view some of the local wildlife (own expense). BLD Day 14. Glacier Bay. Wake up to the breathtaking sight of Glacier Bay National Park this morning, with its formidable rivers of ice, wild coastline and sheltered fjords. As you cruise through the national park, it is easy to see why the area has received World Heritage status. Today, local rangers will join you on board to explain the geological wonders and diverse wildlife of this incredible region. BLD Day 15. Ketchikan. Arrive in Ketchikan this morning, the salmon capital of the world, and enjoy free time to explore this fascinating town's many attractions. Perhaps join a walking tour of the town or learn about Tlingit Indian culture at Saxman Native Village (both at own expense). BLD Day 16. Inside Passage. Spend today cruising south through the majestic landscape of the Inside Passage. BLD Day 17. Disembark Cruise, Depart Vancouver. Disembark your ship after breakfast then transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
