Cetronics Systems Ltd Congratulate the Cetronics Systems Ltd Congratulate the Mt Egmont Rescue Trust on their choice of KODEN electronics Mt Egmont Rescue Trust on their choice of KODEN electronics ABOVE: Twin Volvo Penta diesels LEFT: Water tank anchor is housed in the spare man connected to the reversing anchor winch, with a handy safety retaining hook to prevent unwanted sudden anchoring. Cetronics supplied and installed the comprehensive electronics suite, including: • an MDC 2240 12in high-resolution 4kW dual-speed radar with built-in ATA (ARPA) 50 targets and radar overlay of C-map chart information for accurate navigation • a GTD 110 10in chartplotter to track and plot targets from the radar's ATA, as well as providing waypoint locations for the helmsman • a CVG 200 10in plotter/sounder to track and plot targets, as well as the depth and sea temperature at Cape Egmont • a KGC1 GPS compass with SBAS as the main GPS and source of heading, so the radar and plotters can operate in HU, CU and NU with no problems, and • a GPS20a GPS SBAS capable of performing as a back-up. The system is interfaced so data is shared between units but can still operate if a unit fails. This redundancy ensures safer operation, which was a major requirement. To cap off the package, ATL supplied an Inmarsat satellite telephone to ensure private or secure communications when required. Sitting snug-as-a-bug on her special trailer, the TSB Rescue is a credit to the skills of her engineers and boatbuilders. The Cape Egmont and Oponaki communities have a capable rescue craft which will give families peace of mind when their loved ones are at sea for work or pleasure. ■ Length 10.8m Beam 3.5m Draft 730mm Deadweight 7.5 tonnes Engines Power Top speed Service speed Designer Builder 2 x D4 Volvo Penta marine diesels 2 x 194kW Propulsion 2x Volvo Penta DPH Duo-Prop sterndrives Fuel 900 litres 38 knots 26 knots Angelo Lavranos Bladerunner Boats Operational price $600,000 (give or take a calf or two) We can build custom alloy craft to any design for work or pleasure to 20 metres plus and we design and build our own computer cut hydrofoil supported catamarans for twin hulled safety economy and performance – over eighty boats on the water – 5m-15m for all uses – these offer large fuel savings and a wonderful ride – call Greg for more information.
