Begin today with a tour of Buenos Aires, then visit Café Tortoni, a famous literati coffeehouse, to enjoy coffee and a snack. Tonight, head to the Philippe Starck-designed cabaret, Rojo Tango, to enjoy dinner, drinks and the city's most exclusive tango show. BD Day 17. Buenos Aires, Freedom of Choice. Today, perhaps head to the island town of Tigre and cruise over the Paraná Delta; explore Buenos Aires during a walking tour; or visit Teatro Colón, of one of the finest opera houses in the world. After your activity, the rest of the day is yours at leisure. B Day 18. Buenos Aires, Ushuaia. Fly to the city of Ushuaia, known to many as the world's most southerly city. Enjoy the surrounds before an Antarctica orientation and briefing this evening. Stay: Ushuaia, Arakur Resort & Spa. B Day 19. Ushuaia, Embark Antarctic Cruise. After boarding your ship today, meet your Expedition Team as you head out to sea. Enjoy the Captain's Welcome Dinner. 20 Night Cruise: Sea Explorer. BD Days 20-21. Drake Passage. Develop your sea legs during the crossing of the Drake Passage. Meanwhile, your Expedition Team will commence their presentations to get you excited for your upcoming wildlife encounters. When the ship crosses the Antarctic Convergence, you have officially entered Antarctica. BLD Days 22-25. South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula. Over the next four days, explore the South Shetland Islands, and cruise along the Antarctic Peninsula, the northernmost part of mainland Antarctica and home to the continent's mildest climate. During this time, you'll experience the thrill of getting up close to gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguin rookeries. And you'll likely encounter Weddell, crabeater, leopard and Antarctic fur seals, as well as orca, humpback whales and minke whales, all of which frequent the chilly waters. Although landing sites will vary depending on weather conditions, you may stop at an active scientific base, as well as a historic base such as the United Kingdom's Port Lockroy or Wordie House. You'll also enjoy plenty of opportunities to explore the pristine wilderness of snow, ice and mountains. BLD Days 26-27. Scotia Sea. During the crossing to South Georgia, watch for whales and drink in the remote beauty of this ice-swept seascape. BLD Days 28-29. South Georgia. In South Georgia, enjoy the chance to see the large elephant seals on the beach; experience the king penguin rookeries and get up close to thousands of penguins along the coast. You'll also gain insight into the original inhabitants as you see several whaling stations and other abandoned outposts, including the grave of the explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton. BLD Days 30-32. At Sea. Relax on board or perhaps attend an informative lecture. BLD Day 33. Stanley, East Falkland. Explore the beaches of the Falklands by Zodiac today. You'll visit the British outpost of Stanley, famed for its churches and museums, and more. Later, visit a farming homestead and soak up the local Falkland Islands hospitality. BLD Day 34. West Falkland. Continue to West Falkland and go to shore for a hike into the hills, where you'll see albatross breeding colonies as well as rockhopper, king and macaroni penguin rookeries. BLD Days 35-38. At Sea. Farewell the penguins and icebergs as you cruise to Buenos Aires. BLD Day 39. Disembark Ship, Buenos Aires. After breakfast, disembark in Buenos Aires. Stay: Buenos Aires, Alvear Palace Hotel. B Day 40. Depart Buenos Aires. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
