Board the Andean Explorer for a day-long rail journey through the highlands to Puno. Two Night Stay: Puno, The Libertador Lake Titicaca, Lake View Rooms. BL Day 19. Puno, Lake Titicaca. Located on the border of Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the highest altitude lake in the world. This morning, travel by speedboat to the village of Luquina and visit a unique school project organised by APT. This afternoon, travel by boat to the floating reed islands of the Uros people on Lake Titicaca. BL Day 20. Lake Titicaca, Iquitos, Embark Amazon Cruise. Fly via Lima to Iquitos, located on the mighty Amazon. Here, board your river ship for your Amazon cruise, during which you'll have the opportunity to go fishing for piranhas, among many other highlights. Three Night Cruise: Delfin II. BD Day 21. Amazon Cruise, Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve. Watch for wildlife in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, home to some 500 bird species, more than 100 mammal species, nearly 70 species of reptiles, 58 types of amphibians and almost 270 species of fish. After, cruise El Dorado River and see the playful grey and pink river dolphins. As you cruise, watch for snail kites, scarlet macaws, Amazonian parrotlets, iguanas and squirrel monkeys. BLD Day 22. Amazon Cruise. Enjoy a rainforest hike among trees that stretch up to 55 metres high. Look out for birds such as bluish-fronted jacamars and red-capped cardinals. Enjoy lunch on board then travel by skiff over the Pacaya River at sunset. Later, join a night safari in search of caiman, frogs, owls and fish bats. BLD Day 23. Disembark Amazon Cruise, Iquitos, Lima. Board a skiff bound for Puerto Miguel to meet local villagers. After returning to your ship, disembark then transfer to Iquitos. Here, visit the fantastic Manatee Rescue Centre, where volunteers care for the endangered mammals. Later, board your flight to Lima. Stay: JW Marriott Hotel Lima, Ocean View Rooms. BL Day 24. Lima, Guayaquil (Ecuador). Fly to Ecuador's coastal city of Guayaquil. Here you'll enjoy lunch and a city tour before spending the rest of the day at leisure to relax or explore. Stay: Guayaquil, Hilton Hotel. BL Day 25. Guayaquil, Embark Galápagos Islands Cruise, San Cristóbal Island. Fly to the Galápagos Islands and transfer to your luxurious ship. After lunch, journey to Cerro Colorado on San Cristóbal Island's southern shore. Here, you'll visit the breeding centre of the endangered giant tortoise, which is set amid a beautiful deciduous forest. Three Night Cruise: Yacht La Pinta. BLD Day 26. Galápagos Islands Cruise, San Cristóbal Island. Disembark at the eastern tip of San Cristóbal Island this morning. Starting at the beach, set out on an exciting walk which takes in spectacular views of the coast. Along the way, you'll be able to spot frigatebirds and see a colony of male sea lions lounging on the shore. Afterwards, you might like to go swimming or snorkelling. Later, take a dinghy ride to the beautiful, white-sand beach of Cerro Brujo. The beach is ideal for birdwatching and is also home to striking Sally Lightfoot crabs. BLD Day 27. Galápagos Islands Cruise, Española Island. Arrive at Española, the southernmost island of the Galápagos. Embark on an enchanting walk across the lava terrain at Punta Suárez. With your naturalist guide, explore the rocky shores and visit colonies of waved albatross, boobies and swallow-tail gulls, and keep an eye out for marine iguanas making their way to the water. You'll also see the famous blowhole. Later, perhaps take out a sea kayak or board your ship's glass-bottom boat with a guide and watch for reef sharks, turtles and many species of tropical fish. BLD Day 28. Disembark Galápagos Islands Cruise, Guayaquil. This morning, disembark at Santa Cruz Island and see the majestic giant tortoises at the Charles Darwin Research Station. You'll learn all about the remarkable species, with some of the tortoises here being more than 100 years old. Transfer by bus across the island and take in the scenery, before a short ferry ride to Baltra. Head to the airport for your return flight to Guayaquil.
