in the market," he says. "So we proceeded from there." What followed was a tremendous
effort and construction of the water front facility commenced in April 2010. As construction progressed, the first completed area was handed over to the fabrication and modularisation business unit in early September 2010. The factory was fully completed in April 2011, 12 months after construction commenced. Pat notes that motivation to finish the facility
quickly was driven by the need to maintain the company's plans and future projections. "So it acted as a push for us to keep on track
with the construction of the facility," Pat says. In April 2011, West Australian Premier
Colin Barnett officially opened what is believed to be the largest undercover fabrication facility in Australia. It features the latest modern automated
fabrication, welding, lifting and surface- treatment equipment available and has the capacity to safely produce up to 60,000 tonnes of fabricated steel per year.

has made it possible for Civmec to compete for construction and engineering projects, which has led to a number of new contracts; one of these being a multi-million-dollar contract from Chevron Australia for the fabrication and supply of shop-fabricated structural steel for the Gorgon Project. Civmec will supply approximately
10,000 tonnes of structural steel for the construction of the gas-processing plant on Barrow Island off the coast of Western Australia. "Every element of our business at the
moment is in line with our projections," Pat notes. He puts it down to the integrity of the management and workforce at Civmec, which has given clients "confidence in our ability".
