:molly bedingfield How About Molly Bedingfield Molly Bedingfield is the founder of international charity Global Angels which champions the causes of disadvantaged children and communities around the world. She founded the organisation in 2004, after 25 years working in the international charity sector. Since then its projects have helped to provide water, food, education, homes, medical care and resources. Molly is the mother of four, including well-known singers Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield. As well as her charity work, New Zealand-born Molly has been a professional counsellor, life coach and head teacher of two innercity schools. …Work/life balance I am naturally a workaholic so I try very hard to maintain a work/life balance. My friends have been given strict instructions to call me regularly to go out for coffee. When I'm home at night, I try my hardest not to do too much Global Angels work. I used to work 18 hours a day when I started the charity, now I try to work only 12. I read a lot of books to escape. I'm on the second to last book in the Game of Thrones series which I am thoroughly enjoying. … Managing a global role For a third of the year I am travelling. Wherever I go, I always try to take an extra day to enjoy the surroundings. After a recent trip to Switzerland, although we were busy doing strategy and planning, I took time to visit the Matterhorn to go skiing. I'm going to Mombasa, Africa, for two weeks and I will be going on a safari on one of the nights. … Being a good mother This is what I love doing the most. I aspire to be a mother who understands her children and who is someone her children want to hang out with. 124 | www. h e rmagaz i n e . c o. n z … Keeping the romance alive My husband and I date one to two nights every week and we have done so since our children were little. I'm still in love with my husband who I met when I was 17. Because of my workaholic nature, dating is something that we put in the calendar. …Empowering and integrity I was once asked what the most important things are to me for Global Angels, and I came up with empowering and integrity. Everything and everyone that I involve myself with must have these qualities. … Friends I have a best friend in every country. Most of the people I work with become my friends. My friends help me to wind down. … Coaching and mentoring Coaching and encouraging the best in people is something I do that brings me the purest joy. Seeing a person develop to their best self is incredibly fulfilling. Whether they are associates I work with in the charity sector, people on the ground we are serving, or even family members. www.globalangels.org
