welcome Dear friends of W elcome to the December issue of OUTthere. Season's greetings to all of our passengers. It's hard to believe that yet another year is coming to a close, and for us at Rex it has certainly been one to remember. In August we celebrated our 10th birthday. It's a milestone we're proud to have reached, and such an achievement wouldn't have been possible without the loyal support of our passengers. We were honoured to report a record profit for FY 2011–12, and elated to receive the accolade as the top performing Australian airline for the fourth year running, as named by Avi ation Week & Space Technology magazine. We were also thrilled to offer the Broken Hill and Mildura communities a significant new range of air services, including direct connections between Mildura and Sydney, as well as the much-awaited Broken Hill-to-Melbourne service. However, we were also impacted by a changed and challenging operating environment, where the introduction of the carbon tax, the cessation of the Enroute Rebate Scheme and other spiralling costs contributed to the withdrawal of Rex's Griffith-to-Melbourne route and the termination of Rex's frequent flyer program. Despite this, we are positive that with the continued support of our passengers we will survive and continue to offer that vital link between regional Australia and our major cities. We've enjoyed having you fly with us in 2012 and we wish you and your families all the best over the festive season. Until next year, from all 1,000 of us at Rex, Air Link, Pel-Air and AAPA, we invite you to sit back, relax and let us do the flying. I
