foxteladvertorial THE PEOPLE SPEAK Democracy is not a spectator sport in Australia; this land Down Under is one of the world's oldest continuous democracies where 'action by the people' from all walks of life is encouraged. Australians have won rights and engineered reforms by our powers of persuasion, negotiation and inspiration. Our words are eloquent, earthy, angry, clever and cutting. The People Speak is an alternative history of Australia told through the voices that were raised to create the country we live in today. Some of Australia's finest actors and musicians, including Jack Thompson, Sam Worthington, Rebecca Gibney, Claudia Karvan, David Wenham (pictured), Ryan Kwanten, Julia Stone, Tex Perkins and Christine Anu, interpret primary sources as they revisit the 'good fights' surrounding our convict past, republicanism, working conditions, gender equality, conscription, gay rights, immigration and Indigenous rights. The People Speak challenges the complacency of spectators and inspires meaningful participation in the ongoing quest to create a fair society. The People Speak premieres on Sunday, December 2, at 7.30pm on History. FOXTEL IS BOWLING VIEWERS OVER WITH FOUR OF THE BEST IN SUMMER ENTERTAINMENT. The 'Minogue Marathon' includes the Australian premiere of Aphrodite Les Folies, Kylie's groundbreaking world tour that featured a heart-shaped stage with more than a million moving parts, enabling her dancers to float above the audience, and fountains propelling water 30 metres into the air. Also screening is the Australian premiere of My Year As Aphrodite, a one- hour documentary that follows Kylie and her crew from the conceptualisation of the tour through to rehearsals and their six months on the road. Plus, there's more Kylie content than you can poke a glitter stick at! Kylie: 25 Years in 25 Hours premieres on Saturday, December 8, at 8.30pm on MAX.
