DISGUST AT VANDALISM
OF 'LADY OF THE LAKE' CREW MEMBERS OF TSS Earnslaw say they were "disgusted" to discover a trio of Englishmen had been found intoxicated on TSS Earnslaw by police in August. The men, aged 26, 24 and 19, were charged with trespassing and two were also charged with defecating in a public place. It was especially heartbreaking for Real Journeys as it is the second alleged episode of vandalism since the $1 million survey and beautification of "the Lady of the Lake" was successfully completed in July, ready for its centenary in October. Earnslaw and Walter Peak operations manager Angus Small said yesterday staff members had fully decontaminated the ship. He hoped the vandalism would not lead to the Earnslaw being caged in protective fences overnight, as the security measure would "ruin" Steamer Wharf. "Real Journeys doesn't expect this kind of behaviour from anyone. The vessel is precious to us and many members of the public and for individuals to disrespect her like this is a sad state of affairs."

NZ Millennium Cup debut
FITZROY-BUILT, DUBOIS-designed Ohana will show her paces to the superyachting world when she starts in Auckland's NZ Millennium Cup on February 14, 2013, after she is launched later this year. Ohana will be challenging reigning champion Silvertip, winner in 2012 and 2009 and other competitors including Janice of Wyoming, and Pacific Eagle, both built by Alloy Yachts. Yachting Developments returns to the regatta as platinum sponsor for the second year. Silvertip won the Superyacht Society's 'Best Sailing Yacht' award and Showboats' 'Best Sailing Yacht' award, the first yacht to win both accolades.
