Penny's Tips for anyone thinking of going on a tour: 1. Consider your reasons and what you are trying to achieve. Have realistic expectations. For example, don't expect to look 20 again if you are in your 50s. 2. When it comes to cost savings, compare with procedures in New Zealand but do not base your decision solely on cost. Remember to budget for added expenses such as accommodation, food, shopping, travel expenses and transfers. 3. Be aware that with any surgery there are risks. However, this is the case in New Zealand as well. Don't be put off by scare mongering. If the hospital you are going to has JCI international accreditation it will easily compare and usually surpass anything in New Zealand. 4. Nip-Tuck Cosmetic Surgery has an affiliation with an international medical insurance provider, if anyone wants it. 5. Finance packages are available but an alternative is using a credit card, as the hospital does take credit card payments. 6. Consider the time you will need on a medical tour. Usually a two week time frame is the norm. This allows for surgery post op care and consultations and also some time resting up and recuperating before coming back to New Zealand. Also over this period there will be opportunities to enjoy some shopping, day tours and nightlife for those that want it. 7. Expect to have a good time. Consider going in an escorted tour group rather than as an individual. Going in a group also has the added bonus of sharing the experience, new friendships made and knowing you are not alone.
