SRI LANKA Heritance Tea Factory Nestled in the famed mountain range that gave the world pure Ceylon tea, Heritance Tea Factory was built in the days of the British Raj. Where else in the world can you stay in a converted tea factory, pluck your own tea and take it home with you as a souvenir? At two kilometres above sea level, you'll witness views of the sun mingling with the mist over the lush green organic plantations that will truly take your breath away. Enjoy them as you tuck into high tea on the terrace, or a delicious tea-themed menu in the restaurant. Converted into a magnificent award- winning hotel, The Heritance Tea Factory still preserves much of its original style and machinery. Today the hotel boasts 54 cosy, comfortable rooms and suites in a range of categories that overlook tea- covered hills and valleys. Converted from the former withering lofts, all accommodations features bathtubs and showers as well as heating, for when the mists close in. Full-length windows that once helped to control the temperature for drying the leaves now ensure the rooms are flooded with natural light, while providing spectacular views of the surrounding tea plantations. Wood is a key element in the rooms and furnishings are all made locally, from the prints showing local villagers bartering goods to custom-made toiletries, and the complimentary bottles of Hethersett Water come from the hotel's own spring. Each room is also equipped with the hotel's own signature tea leaves, coffee, free Wi-Fi and a fully stocked mini bar. For dining with a difference, TCK 6685 Restaurant gives you the chance to dine in a converted 1930s railway carriage, served by white-gloved attendants amid polished teak and brass. Alternatively, the Kenmare Restaurant serves a wide range of Sri Lankan and international dishes buffet style, or for something lighter, Hethersett Bar serves a range of snacks, as well as local and international beers, wine and spirits. And of course, at Heritance Tea Factory, it's always time for tea. The Goatfell Bar is just the place to put your feet up with a refreshing cuppa or treat yourself to a wonderful high tea. Whether you want to work up a sweat on a bike or in the gym, wind down with a relaxing massage in the spa, or settle down with your laptop in the library—there is a comprehensive range of facilities to keep you occupied. For a wholly unique and truly unforgettable holiday experience, you can't go past Heritance Tea Factory.
