Snacks for your best friend that you can make yourself
Makes 15 cookies – 15 serves for a medium sized dog.
Give your dog an iron boost!
Ingredients:
1 cup (150g/5oz) wholemeal (whole-wheat) flour 1 cup (120g/4oz) rolled oats 11/2 cups (160g/51/2 oz) frozen chopped spinach 3 tblsps (30g/1oz) finely grated parmesan cheese 1/4 cup (60ml/2 fl.oz) water
Method:
Thaw the spinach but do not drain. Preheat oven to 160 degrees C/ 325 degrees F Mix all ingredients and place large tablespoonfuls of the mixture (about 25g/3/4oz each) on a lightly greased baking tray. Flatten out each biscuit with the back of a fork, place in the oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
Store for up to 3 days in an airtight container or freeze. Makes 4 cups (400g/14oz) – 8 serves for a medium-sized dog.

1⁄2 cup (90g/3oz) cracked wheat (Bulgar) 1 1⁄4 cup (125g/4oz) rolled oats 3⁄4 cup (50g/13⁄4oz) bran cereal (e.g.Kellogg's All Bran) 1⁄4 cup (50g/13⁄4oz) pumpkin seeds 1⁄4 cup (25g/3⁄4oz) chopped walnuts 1 tablespoon (20g/2/3oz) chia seed 1 tablespoon (50g/13⁄4oz) honey 2 tablespoons (30g/1oz) sunflower oil 1 drop vanilla essence
Method Preheat oven to 160°C/325°F. Place the honey, oil and vanilla in a microwave-safe jug and warm on 30% for 1 minute in the microwave. Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl, then pour in the honey mixture and stir well. Grease a 25x40cm/10x16in baking tray and spread the muesli evenly over the tray. Place in oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes or until golden brown, stirring every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking. Remove from the oven and allow the muesli to cool. Store for up to 4 weeks in an airtight container.
