sheila I ed's notes follow us on sheila I age groups on the cover. Naturally, the 20 year old was gorgeous, no surprises there. And, no surprises for me, that the 30 something and 40 something looked equally stunning. But I think there would be a few people taken by surprise by this. I have been saying for ages now, that with youth on your side, it is quite easy to look great in your 20s. But when I see a woman in her 30s and beyond who looks amazing, I am more likely to sit up and take notice. Because looking great post children and with a few lines around the eyes, is not that easy and our society in general seems to struggle to see the beauty in the war wounds that add up as we celebrate each birthday. When thinking about this lately, I have also come to the conclusion that this is partly because of the way we have educated our society. And unquestionably, it is also the result of the world's collective hunger for disposable commodities. All around the world amazing models are dropped when they hit their late 20s and I used to think this was because, well with lines and lumps and bumps, they are harder to photograph and cast on the catwalk. In reality the problem is actually the fashion industry's desperate desire for "hot new talent". Girls are discovered younger and by the time they reach their mid 20s, there's new blood waiting to be t was fantastic to see the latest edition of Madison Magazine featuring three beautiful women in three different 14 SHEILA MAY 2012 K ED'S NOTES discovered and waiting to be the next big thing. In reality, there's nothing wrong with the 30 year old, and dare I say it, even the 40 year old and beyond. This month, Sheila features Kate James on the cover. Now back in Perth to raise her young son, Kate looks amazing in this month's fashion editorial. We loved working with her because, in her mid-30s, Kate knows how to move for the camera. Her life experiences bring va-va voom to her shots. She is simply beautiful on the cover and we hope that by running her pictures, we can contribute in a small way to getting the community to see that women's beauty develops with age. There's no negating that Kate is a bit of unique specimen. But we know she will inspire women of all shapes, sizes and ages.
