Day 27. Denali National Park, Fairbanks.
Travel to Fairbanks, stopping at Nenana where
you'll learn about the Nenana Ice Classic,
a fundraising event in which locals attempt to
guess the exact time the Tenana River ice will
break up. This quirky competition has been
running since 1906. In Fairbanks, take a city
tour which includes the Trans-Alaska Pipeline
and Santa Claus House in the North Pole. You'll
also visit the UAF Museum of the North.

Day 28. Fairbanks.
Board a sternwheeler and cruise the
Chena River, travelling back to a time when
riverboats filled the waterways of Alaska's
interior. Afterwards, enjoy the Gold Dredge 8
tour, discovering how this 'floating workhorse'
extracted millions of ounces of gold from the
frozen ground, and ride the Tanana Valley
Railroad through the gold fields of the interior.
You'll also meet Alaskan miners who'll explain
the history of their trade and get the chance
to pan for gold. This evening, enjoy a Farewell
Dinner with your fellow travellers. BD
Day 29. Depart Fairbanks.
