In this UNESCO City of Design, a tour through time begins on cobblestoned streets and the 350-year-old Notre Dame Basilica. Representing the 19 th century is Saint-Paul Street, with boutiques, art studios, residences, cafés, and jazz clubs to bring you back into the present. A similar juxtaposition of old and new defines Bonsecours Market, nationally recognized as one of the ten most beautiful heritage buildings in Canada and the headquarters of the Quebec Crafts Council. Loveliness isn't only limited to urban offerings; New York's Central Park architect, Frederick La Olmstead, masterminded Montreal's Mont Royal Park, and the city's year-round botanical garden is the second-largest of its kind. More bucolic still is nearby Montebello, a small village in the wide, open country of Quebec, known for the largest log structure ever built and the historic Manoir Papineau. Together, you'll find that a little bit of France and a whole lot of Canada makes for a destination you won't quite believe.
