Island bliss By Monique Galluzzo I'm sure many of us frequently catch ourselves lost in thoughts of tropical island escapes, daydreaming of those picture perfect clichés of lazy white sand beaches lined with shady palms, swimming in pristine waters teeming with technicoloured tropical fish and basking under the sunniest of skies. Recently, I was fortunate enough to escape the winter and chase the sun on a trip to Hawaii where I was able to indulge in such fantasies. Much has been said about Hawaii's breathtaking beauty and legendary hospitality, and it certainly lives up to its reputation. It is truly an unforgettable destination and whether you crave a little adventure or the chance to kick back and do absolutely nothing, Hawaii offers something for all travellers. We snorkelled in the pristine waters, swam with sea turtles and hiked volcanoes. I even reluctantly agreed to go shark cage diving. We floated on the calm waters of world- renowned Waikiki Beach and kicked on into the night with a mai tai in hand. Oahu's North Shore, the legendary surf mecca, offers a contrast to the buzzing Waikiki with its rural charm and laid-back country atmosphere. It won't be easy choosing my next pacific island destination, however with so many fantastic options its hard to go wrong. Home to islands reputed to be among the most beautiful in the world, the Pacific is a flawless destination with much more to boast than its picture perfect beaches. Discover historic landmarks and learn about the rich culture, explore off-the-beaten-path destinations and mingle with the friendly locals. And with the offer of both proximity and value, I look forward to my next Pacific island escape. www.paradisesonline.com 3
