See page 9 for tour route map. Day 1 Upon arrival, you will be met by a Swiss Travel Costa Rica Representative. Transfer to your San Jose hotel for one night stay. Day 2 Depart in the morning to the southern Caribbean Coast in the small village of Puerto Viejo de Limón, renowned for its cultural allure, stunning white-sand beaches, tropical vegetation and its proximity to national parks. Stay two nights at a selected lodge. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the nature, relax on the beach, swim in the warm Caribbean waters or visit Puerto Viejo de Limón and buy a souvenir at a good price. Day 3 Morning departure to the wonders of Cahuita National Park. Do some snorkeling along the vibrant coral reef before walking through the rainforest to spot howler and white-faced monkeys, lizards, tropical birds and more. Day 4 Morning transfer to the Caño Blanco Dock, where a 2.5 hour boat ride will take you through the canals sheltered in the jungle of the rainforest to Tortuguero National Park. After lunch, visit the village of Tortuguero. Learn about the lifestyle of its residents and the conservation efforts developed to protect sea turtles that come to spawn each July through September along the 22 miles of protected coastline. Overnight at your hotel in Tortuguero for two nights. Day 5 Tortuguero is a great place for eco-tourism lovers. Enjoy a guided hike through the jungle or explore the secondary canals to see different species of mammals, birds and reptiles. Much of the national park extends along unspoiled beaches that serve as refuge for spawning of sea turtles. Day 6 After breakfast, enjoy a boat-transfer back to the local dock and then a land-transfer to your San José hotel for your last night. Along the way, pass through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, a flora and fauna sanctuary covered by an emerald-green mass of vegetation. Day 7 Transfer to San José International Airport (SJO) for your departure. Children 5 & under are not permitted on tour.
