Have your story published! Here's how to enter our Short Story Competition: "You coming?" He picked his bag up and swung it over his shoulder. As he did, his jacket fell open and I caught a fleeting glimpse of the first familiar thing I'd seen in this country: the triangular prism from "Dark Side of the Moon". "Yup." I cast aside my hesitation and followed. *** I woke with a start. Something wasn't right. I could feel it; like that weird feeling you get when you wake up in a strange place and you can't remember where you are or how you got there. I'd had it before, only this time I really had no clue where I was. The miasma of cleaning chemicals and damp mops stung my nose. I tried to move my hand towards my face, but sharp cords dug into my wrists, restricting my movement. I could hear my heart pounding and the blood rushing in my ears to the same rhythm. My chest spasmed in response to the shallow, rapid breaths I was taking. My eyes hadn't yet adjusted to the dimly lit, dank room. I was in a sort of blind panic. I had to force myself to calm down; panic wasn't going to get me anywhere. Taking deeper, much slower breaths now, I tried to focus on where I was. My last conscious thought was Peter showing me down a narrow alley way, and reaching out to open a door to what he said was a back entrance to my apartment building. At the same time this memory surfaced my eyes became more accustomed to the dark space around me. The hairs on the nape of my neck rose as the overwhelming feeling of being watched hit me. I could just make out a figure sitting with its legs crossed in the corner, observing my every move. The figure spoke. "So. You're finally awake." Once again, I heard that same, un-placeable accent that was undeniably Peter's.
