MARKETPLACE LIGHT UP THE ROOM
Lumitec says its Nevis engineroom light is a high-output 10-30VDC LED alternative to large, boxy and unreliable fluorescent lights. It is one of a series of new marine lights.
The Nevis has a beam angle of 180° and floods poky areas with even white light, says Lumitec. The units are completely sealed and are small enough to mount "almost anywhere".

The Ripple comes in two types, the GAI for general illumination and the high-intensity Task light. Both operate on 10-30 volts DC and draw minimal power.
The GAI Ripple comes in four light output colours and is suitable for interior or deck use. Dimming and four-colour control is available. The Task Ripple offers extreme brightness in a small package. The mounting system offers full articulation.
The Newt LED 12 volt compact courtesy light is suitable for illuminating cockpits, stairwells, companionways, counters and helmstations. It is available in white, red or blue, and is completely sealed. It complies the IP67 standard so can be immersed in up to 1m of water. The polycarbonate casings also make them suitable for live-bait tanks. The Aurora is a high-quality LED replacement for dome
lights. With its clean lines and rotating bezel switch-dimmer, it produces a bright, even light in multiple colours. It also passes the IP67 standard and operates with voltages of between 10 and 30 volts DC.

of around 50,000 units. The engines are sold in North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. The outboards include two-stroke and four-stroke series. The two-stroke series covers nine engines from the single-cylinder HD2.5F to the two-cylinder HD40F. The four-stroke line-up targets the lower horsepower market up to 15hp, with six models available. The new range is said to be ideal for powering tenders and small runabouts. Contact www.hideanz.co.nz or phone 0508 HideaNZ
FISHFINDERS ASSESS FISH SIZE
Furuno has added two new fishfinders to its model line, the FCV-627 and the FCV-587. The FCV-627 is a 5.7in colour LCD sounder while the FCV-587 is an 8.4in colour LCD sounder. Furuno says the units will feature new sonar technology and features such as
ACCU-FISH,
which assesses fish size. In order to assess individual fish sizes, the echo strength from the fish needs to be computed and turned into data on the screen. ACCU-
FISH can detect the size of a fish from 100mm to 1.99m at depths of between 2m and 100m.
When the feature is activated from the menu, the unit will display the fish size on the individual echo. When used concurrently with fish marks, it greatly helps anglers to identify fish targets on the display. A target depth can also be selected instead of fish size to help anglers see how far the fish is from their boat.
The two models also incorporate the bottom discrimination function previously only available on larger units as a Black Box add-on. The function allows the viewer to know what the bottom material is beneath them, such as mud, sand, gravel and rock, either graphically or in four colours. The unit's ultrasonic beam creates slightly different echoes according to the particle size on the seabed. Essentially, it analyses a different echo from each bottom component made of varieties of size and hardness. Contact www.enl.co.nz or phone +64 9 373-5595
