Volvo power fits as snug as a bug in a boat
sunbathing, is soft on the feet when moving around and resolves any problems of salt corrosion.
The interior décor is quite shaded and dark, which is pleasing and easy on the eyes. It's also easy to clean and makes a comfortable environment for the crew and passengers. We were impressed with the Senator's performance during her sea trials, given her size and the horsepower on board. She consumed 90 litres an hour over both engines while cruising at 20 knots. At 25 knots our fuel consumption rose to 120 litres per hour on both engines, and at 30 knots fuel consumption started to climb to a total of 150 litres per hour at both engines.
When the hammer went down at 42 knots she sucked up 300 litres per hour. Clearly, the fuel curve just rockets up at speeds of over 30 knots. A boy's fishing boat travelling at 20 knots and burning less than 100 litres per hour is good economy and good service. But if they need to get home in a hurry or beat the weather, she can double her speed if they are happy to open the chequebook. The Senator 1700 would make an excellent working charterboat for fishing and general use. She also offers untapped opportunities for extending the cabin aft and turning her into an inshore ferry with an excellent turn of speed. With her low wash, shoal draft and the amount of real estate on board, we estimate she could comfortably carry up to 90 passengers.
