her time out predominantly figurative nudes. For my first solo show in 2007 my art had progressed and I began painting classic, elegant outfits on the ladies alongside vintage cars. I would source ideas from the pages of vintage Vogue books. I would also drag my family around antique shops and fairs to find reference material." Ingrid's art continues to evolve and her new body of work explores the contradiction of dimension and scale. Today, her ladies are long and slender with elongated legs, arms and neck, emphasising their femininity. Whilst remaining true to her love of fashion history, the ladies are now clothed in outfits created by Ingrid, inspired by the same imagery that caught her imagination as a child. Every detail is important, from the beads on a pair of gloves, to the lacy trim on a skirt or the stitching on a pair of shoes. The study of these elements close up helps Ingrid to transform them on to canvas. No matter what subject Ingrid paints, the compositions are frequently cropped in very tight, focussing the eye on the detail that Ingrid wants the viewer to see.
