Depart Washington DC for Philadelphia, one of the largest cities in the USA, and known as the birthplace of American democracy. Here, a city tour includes the Liberty Bell, as well as a visit to Independence Hall, where America's founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. Afterwards, continue on to arguably the most famous city in the world – New York. After settling in to your hotel in Midtown Manhattan, enjoy dinner. Three Night Stay: New York City, The Westin New York Grand Central. BD THE BIG APPLE Day 14. New York City. During a guided tour of Manhattan this morning, take in the landmarks of New York including: the bustling Fifth Avenue; vibrant Times Square; Broadway's glitzy Theatre District; and the Lincoln Center, which is home to The Metropolitan Opera, The New York City Ballet and The New York Philharmonic Orchestra. You'll also see Greenwich Village; artistic Soho; and the Financial District including Wall Street. B Day 15. New York City. Cruise to New York City's Statue of Liberty. An icon of freedom and of the United States, the statue was a gift from the people of France and was dedicated to the United States in 1886. You will also cruise to Ellis Island, which was the United States' busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 until 1954 and the gateway for millions of immigrants. You then have the afternoon at leisure to explore this vibrant and iconic city before dinner this evening. BD BOSTON – THE CRADLE OF LIBERTY Day 16. Newport, Boston. Departing New York, head along the coast to Rhode Island and the city of Newport, a well-known East Coast summer resort. Here, visit The Breakers, one of the famous Newport Mansions. Inspired by 16th-century Italian palaces, it was once a vacation 'cottage' of Cornelius Vanderbilt and is today worth in excess of $100 million. After a tour, continue on to Boston. Two Night Stay: Boston, The Fairmont Copley Plaza. B Day 8. Toronto. Following breakfast, embark on a guided city tour that includes a trip up to the LookOut level of the CN Tower – an icon of the Toronto skyline and the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore as you wish. B SPECTACULAR NIAGARA FALLS Day 9. Niagara Falls. Journey to the township of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and enjoy time at leisure to explore. Later, head for Niagara Falls, three separate waterfalls that straddle the border of Canada and the USA. Perhaps embark on an optional helicopter flight over the falls (own expense). Enjoy an exciting cruise to the base of the falls. This evening, dine overlooking Niagara Falls, before an exclusive visit to the Illumination Tower, where you will be able to create your own light display on the falls. Afterwards, head across the border into the USA. Continue on your way to Lancaster in the state of Pennsylvania. Stay: Lancaster Arts Hotel. BD AMERICA'S GRAND CAPITAL Day 11. Lancaster, Washington DC. Today visit Pennsylvania Dutch Country – also known as Amish Country. Here, during a tour with a local Amish guide, you'll gain great insight into the culture of the Amish people. Afterwards, continue your journey through Baltimore on the way to Washington DC, the US capital. Tonight, enjoy dinner. Two Night Stay: Washington DC, The Fairmont Washington DC Georgetown. BD Day 12. Washington DC. On a guided city tour today, you'll visit Arlington National Cemetery, a famous military resting place established during the American Civil War. You'll also see the White House and visit the National Mall, home to such attractions as the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Memorial and several war memorials – including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the National World War II Memorial.
