The galley, always a tad small and challenging for the chef to prepare a three-course meal for over 70 people, was extended by removing the internal bulkheads from where the toilets used to be on the rear deck.
Designed by Southern Hospitality in conjunction with Real Journeys' catering staff, the galley has a new layout with a better flow for food preparation and upgraded dishwashing facilities. New commercial-grade appliances, refrigeration and benches supplied by Southern Hospitality meet her hospitality requirements and improve the level of service to guests. The lighting has been completely changed from the original 240 volt AC system to a 24 volt DC system using LEDs throughout. The brass light fittings included downlights, reading lights in the cabins, courtesy lights for the floor and up/down lights in the saloon for mood lighting during the evenings. charged during the day when the main generators are running and release their heat during the night. This system, coupled with extra insulation, means she is warmer and the temperature is comfortable throughout the night.
The fresh water supply system had to be completely replaced to meet increased demand from the new showers, toilets and sinks. The water is drawn from the existing holding tanks and fed into a cold, freshwater supply and a hot water ring main. Three quick-recovery hot water cylinders heat this ring main. During the day, the water system's pumps fill two stainless steel tanks on the wheelhouse roof, which means during the night these tanks can provide a head of water for showers and taps without the main pumps coming on.
