The club captain of the Stinky Bait Club, Darius Lindsay, with his winning snapper on his Lucky Penn Powerspin set
us have Penn rod and reel sets as contest prizes. The club captain, Darius Lindsay, won a very nice light spin set, a Penn Powerspin 2000 reel on a matched rod, which he then proceeded to use on the next club fishing day to land the largest snapper for the day, a very nice 550mm fish, on one of the donated Berkley soft-baits, as it happens! If anyone is keen on having the club head out on your charter boat, perhaps you could give Bill a call on (09) 536-5327, or
Mitchell Anderson picked up the best gurnard of the day while everyone else was sitting around, chowing down on sandwiches and Coke!
check out the Stinky Baits Club page on Facebook. Finding boats that can cope with 20 or so people (boys and dads) can be a bit of a mission sometimes, eh.
All in all, this club has been a lot of fun for me. It is a real buzz seeing the young kids getting something out of fishing and learning the tricks of the trade. I can see now why Bill has been running his childrens' camps for decades. It truly is a rewarding experience.
