SAINT LUCIA Named "The World's Leading Honeymoon Destination" in years past by the World Travel Awards, this volcanic island has romance written in every grain of sand and in every drop of water of its numerous waterfalls. Asian, American, European and Caribbean influences add diverse flavor to freshly caught seafood, served in front of softly blushing sunsets. But this island isn't just for lovers. Adventure seekers make their way to the Pitons, Saint Lucia's two signature peaks, for biking or zipline excursions that lead them far above a jungle canopy. Even more colorful is the marine life and coral gardens that make up over 23 renowned scuba sites. The culture found in the street market of Castries, the traditional Friday and Saturday night fish fries in the towns, the sounds of jazz and calypso at the peak of Carnival, and the heritage sites of Pigeon Island National Landmark enrich your travels with native hues. The list of things to do are nearly as endless as the miles of trails that lead up to the Gros Piton and the immaculate beaches that grace the island, and resorts are hard-pressed to match the natural beauty and activity Saint Lucia presents. Yet, they've proven up to the challenge, with everything from upscale resorts to intimate inns featuring on-site water parks, evening entertainment, private beach access, water sports, and all of the amenities that make it possible for one island to have it all.
