DAY 9: TAIYUAN TO PINGYAO This morning you will visit the Provincial Museum and then the Jin Ci Temple before driving to the small ancient town of Pingyao, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed town, renowned for its ancient City Wall, which was built in the 11th century and still stands encircling the town. This afternoon you will enjoy visits to Zhengguo and Shuang Lin Temple. (B, L, D) DAY 10: PINGYAO TO XIAN This morning you will start your walking tour of Pingyao at the ancient City Wall, also visiting the Rishengchang Financial House Museum. Continue on to visit Yamen, a former government building dating back to the Qing Dynasty. Later this evening you are transferred to Pingyao railway station where you will board your overnight train to Xian. (B, L, D) DAY 11: ARRIVE INTO XIAN Upon arrival into Xian this morning, you will visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the renowned Shaanxi Provincial Museum, home to thousands of priceless cultural relics from past dynasties. This evening you will enjoy a performance of music and dance dating back to the Tang Dynasty era. (B, L, D) DAY 12: XIAN Visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, the Terracotta Warriors. You will also walk along the Ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in China. (B, L, D) DAY 13: XIAN TO LUOYANG Board your train to Luoyang, the former imperial capital of China for more than 13 dynasties. Upon arrival this afternoon you will transfer to your hotel. This afternoon, you will travel to the Shaolin Temple, the place of origin for Chinese Zen Buddhism and martial arts, as well as visit the Pagoda Forests. You will stay overnight in Dengfeng. (B, L, D) DAY 15: DENGFENG TO SHANGHAI This morning you will visit the lookout over the Yellow River, the birthplace of ancient Chinese culture and the cradle of Chinese civilization. You will head to the Yellow River Museum before transferring to Zhengzhou Airport to board your flight to Shanghai. (B, L, D) DAY 16: SHANGHAI You will start your sightseeing today with the superb antiques at the Shanghai Museum. From here, wander the surrounds of the neighboring People's Square. You will continue touring to the historical riverfront area known as the Bund and visit a traditional silk museum. This evening you will enjoy an acrobatics performance. (B, L, D) DAY 17: SHANGHAI This morning you will head to the Old Town (Yuan Bazaar) of Shanghai, where cobbled streets are lined with traditional shops selling a variety of tantalizing snacks. Take a relaxing walk through moon gates and latticed pavilions in the peaceful Yu Gardens. You will also explore Xintiandi with its unique 1920's style shikumen buildings. In the evening, enjoy a cruise on the spectacular Huangpu River to view the picturesque nightscape of this exciting city.
