Once we reached the Norwegian coast, we
knew we were sailing towards somewhere
very special. Few landscapes can compare to
the peaceful grandeur of Norwegian fjords.
Our first stop was Honningsvåg, a pristine
bay of the Barents Sea. We joined the
picturesque drive to one of Europe's most
stunning natural sights, Nordkapp, or North
Cape. Located on the reaches of Magerøya
Island where the Norwegian and Barents
Seas meet, the cliffs of Nordkapp rise more
than 305 m from the sea waters, and are
topped by a large, flat plateau. The views
from here are spectacular.
One of our favorite places was Tromsø,
Norway's most northerly city (located only
350 km, from the Arctic Circle). The city
is known as the "Gateway to the Arctic."
World-renowned explorers have set sail
from Tromsø's shores, including Roald
Amundsen, Norway's first son and the first
explorer to reach both poles. A charming
city with its famous Arctic Cathedral, Tromsø
