BUILDING ON OUR VIKING HERITAGE
The spirit of exploration runs deep in our name. Over 1,000 years ago, during the great
Viking Age, Norse seafarers charted unknown waters—navigating Europe's rivers and
braving the Atlantic Ocean on ingenious ships with unfaltering resolve. They forged trade
routes east and ventured west across uncertain seas, reaching as far as Iceland, Greenland
and even North America—centuries before other Europeans would set foot there.
Wedded to the water, the Vikings were master shipbuilders. Their pioneering vessels had
powerful hulls, built to ply the oceans, yet agile enough to slip nimbly into small ports.
Designed for both speed and endurance, these ships were recognised, respected and
emulated across the known world.
At Viking, we cherish our connection to these seafaring pioneers. Their spirit inspires
everything we do—from the journeys we create and the innovative ships we design
to the thirst for exploration that guides us. We are also proud to support renowned
institutions that offer insight into both the history of the Vikings and Nordic culture
today, with partnerships that include the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum,
the National Museum of Norway and the Norwegian Football Federation.
Honoring the original Vikings' ingenuity, craftsmanship and deep connection to nature,
their philosophy continues to shape our river, ocean and expedition vessels. Each ship
embodies a blend of heritage design with modern innovation, complete with thoughtful
touches to enrich your journey and enhance your comfort.
