World's first hydrogen-powered cruise ship to join the Viking fleet We are proud to welcome the world's first hydrogen-powered cruise ship to our ocean fleet in late 2026. The new ship, Viking Libra, is currently under construction at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard and will feature a hybrid propulsion system based partially on liquefied hydrogen and fuel cells, allowing her to operate with zero emissions in even the most environmentally sensitive areas. Viking Astrea, a hydrogen- powered sister ship, is scheduled to join the expanding fleet in 2027. Both vessels will maintain the signature Viking experience while setting a new standard in sustainable cruising. In addition to these vessels, two more ocean ships are set for delivery in 2031, growing the fleet to 23 ocean and expedition ships.
