Are any of the underwater creatures you
encounter in Antarctica curious about
the sub?
Penguins, seals and whales, while sometimes
curious on the surface, tend to stay away
from the submarine underwater. They can
hear and see us, long before we see them!
However I did once have a very rare
encounter with a leopard seal that swam
right up to the submarine underwater and
almost bumped its nose on the window!
Twice in one afternoon!
Where in the world would you like to
dive again?
I can't wait for our next Antarctic season. The
Antarctic is a remarkable continent, it is one
of those places that will always remain truly
extraordinary because of its unique
geography. It's a very special place.
And in what new destination would you
like to dive?
The Viking Octantis will be visiting the Arctic
for the first time later this year. I am excited
to find out what Greenland has to offer
beneath the waves. I am also eager to dive
some of the shipwrecks in the Great Lakes.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to continue diving, exploring and
contributing to our understanding of the
oceans as much as possible. There is so much
more of our oceans to discover, and I am
eager to do my part and share my findings of
the deep ocean with the world.
