again invaded on 9 April 1940, this time by
Nazi Germany, and although the King, Royal
Family and much of the country's gold reserves
were safely smuggled out to
Britain, the country suffered long years of
repressive occupation.
Those dark days are thankfully long behind
this stunning part of Scandinavia. Norway is
a truly wonderful place to visit; it's a country
of land and sea, of mountains, islands, inlets
and narrow channels, rich in history and full
of colour and delights at every turn. How
fortunate I was to travel in such elegant style
aboard the Viking Sky too, where the abundant
staff are there to cater for every need and are
as friendly and welcoming as the Norwegians
themselves. It was a trip to savour; and a
holiday never to forget.
