We catch up with Bruce Allen Scudder, Cruise Director, and Ronald Schweighardt, Hotel General Manager, as they share personal insights from a recent Viking World Cruise. Q: HOW MANY WORLD CRUISES HAVE YOU DONE? Ronald: This is my first one. Bruce: This is my 20th World Cruise. Q: WHAT MAKES A WORLD CRUISE EXPERIENCE SPECIAL? Bruce: It's not just about the destinations; it's the journey. We offer incredible enrichment speakers and programming, which are important for our guests. Ronald: Our guests are entertained from morning to evening with activities, guest speakers, cooking and baking classes, and more. They can choose to be busy or relax. Q: HOW DOES A WORLD CRUISE FOSTER A SENSE OF FAMILY? Bruce: A World Cruise is a longer journey where guests and crew live, work and share experiences together. We celebrate special occasions and create bonds, like a family. Ronald: We've witnessed beautiful moments like renewal of vows and anniversaries. Being part of such experiences is a privilege. Q: IS A WORLD CRUISE MORE THAN A VACATION? Bruce: Absolutely. It's a lifestyle choice, where guests choose to spend their winters. Most of our guests are repeat travellers who enjoy the continuous exploration and growth. Ronald: 93% of our guests on this World Cruise are repeat Viking travellers. They appreciate the opportunity to revisit destinations, learn new things and enjoy the experience. Q: WHAT MAKES CERTAIN PORTS MEMORABLE? Bruce: Sailing into Sydney is one of the most spectacular experiences, with the Opera House and bridge. Ronald: Sydney is breathtaking. Every visit to a destination reveals new things to discover, even if you've been there before. Q: HOW DOES THE CULINARY TEAM ENHANCE A WORLD CRUISE EXPERIENCE? Bruce: Pleasing the palates of so many guests is a remarkable feat. Special events, like the cheese fondue station and tomahawk steak night, make the journey even more memorable. Ronald: Our culinary department does an outstanding job creating diverse menus and enhancing events. Their creativity adds to the overall experience.
