THE MIDDLE RHINE
In Germany, the Rhine River meanders between
forested hillsides, craggy cliffs and steep,
terraced vineyards. The dramatic landscape
is punctuated by some 40 hilltop castles,
fortresses and villages of half-timbered houses,
which date back centuries. At 128km long,
this majestic stretch of river between Bingen
and Bonn makes up the Middle Rhine—more
affectionately known as the "Romantic Rhine."
For centuries, this idyllic setting has inspired
writers, painters and composers, including Lord
Byron and William Turner.
Sail this magnificent segment of the river
on our 8‑day Rhine Getaway journey.
NIAGARA FALLS
A spectacular torrent of water surges over
the arc of rock in an unstoppable cascade. An
icy mist rises in towering sprays, concealing
the vast rift in the rock behind. The vision
is otherwordly—the sound, thundering.
Horseshoe Falls—one of two breathtaking falls
in Niagara—is named after its curved shape
and has the highest flow rate of any waterfall
in North America. Viewed from the top of the
gorge, or on a thrilling boat ride to its misty
base, the majesty of the falls is unforgettable.
Experience the falls on our 15‑day
Great Lakes Collection.
MONET'S GARDEN
Few gardens are more beautiful than Claude
Monet's masterpiece at Giverny. One look and
you can see that it has been designed with an
artist's eye. Monet blended flowers according to
their colours, mixing simple daisies and poppies
with rare expensive varieties, and allowed
them to grow freely. The result is a symphony
of colour, lush and full of light and shade, and
perspectives of a garden of life. This natural
wonder may be manmade, but it is no less
inspiring.
Visit Monet's Garden between April and
October on our 8‑day Paris & the Heart
of Normandy voyage.
