Mykonos is famously known for its sandy
shores, luxury yachts and nightlife scene, but
it is also an island rich in history and culture.
Yes, there are numerous high-end shops and
beach clubs scattered across the island, but
the windmills of Chora have emerged as
another iconic symbol of Mykonos. Although
they're no longer in operation, they present a
splendid sight to behold.
Five thatched-roof windmills, collectively
known as "Kato Mili" are perched above Little
Venice—one of the most romantic spots on
the island. Here you can enjoy a magnificent
panoramic view of the sea. After roaming
around Mykonos for a few hours, I can say for
sure that November is an ideal time of year to
explore this island—free from the bustling
crowds that the summer months bring.
It was eventually time to head back to our
ship, where I enjoyed some delicious
afternoon tea. We said goodbye to beautiful
Mykonos as we began our sunset sailing
towards the next destination of our
memorable Cities of Antiquity voyage.
GETTING THERE: A 15-day Cities of
Antiquity journey sails from Rome to
Athens, or in reverse.
