ALL VIKING LONGSHIPS are powered by true diesel-electric hybrid engines that meet stringent emission
standards and reduce vibrations for a remarkably smooth ride. Key features of the ships' energy-efficient
design include:
• EFFICIENT USE OF SPACE Because every bit of added weight results in extra fuel consumption, we are careful
to add to our ships only what is needed, prioiritising optimal guest comfort and operational efficiency.
• SHORE POWER Viking Longships utilise shore power where possible to reduce reliance on fuel while in port.
• BATTERY PACKS Our newest Viking Longships have battery packs installed on board, which are expected to
reduce our emissions by an additional 5%.
• LED LIGHTING The lighting instruments on board Viking Longships are more energy-efficient LEDs, utilising
low wattage and therefore lower heat output, lower power usage and a longer life.
