Storied dining The tableware at Mamsen's, our traditional Norwegian deli that is named after family matriarch Ragnhild "Mamsen" Hagen, is a replica of the china used in Chairman Tor's family home After Mamsen passed away, the family found her century-old dishware, and engaged the original producer – Figgjo Norway – to replicate the pattern for Viking guests to enjoy as they journey across the oceans In fact, everything about our deli was inspired by Mamsen's love of sharing quality food with family The dishes originate from Mamsen's very own kitchen, including her Norwegian waffl e recipe, a guest favourite on board To ensure the perfect result, the waffl e irons used to make them are replicas from Mamsen's original kitchen Functional staterooms After a lifetime spent living in hotels, our Chairman wanted to ensure every detail of our ships was elegantly functional That's why our staterooms feature easy-to- read and open premium bath products, gimmick-free and intuitive remote controls, large and easy-to-access showers, anti-fog mirrors and heated fl oors They also feature generous closets with plush robes and slippers, multiple US/EU power outlets and USB ports, and conveniently placed light switches Books by the best Our incredible onboard libraries have been curated by prestigious London bookseller, Heywood Hill This historic Mayfair bookshop specialises in creating libraries built around a personal passion or interest, and has curated collections for the Queen and Prince of Wales The Heywood team spent many hours on board getting to know our guests, hand-picking the libraries for each Viking ship that would spark the curiosity of all who cruise with us Artful from stern to bow Our ships are proudly peppered with one of the largest collections of works by master expressionist Edvard Munch outside of Oslo's Munch Museum Combined with our thoughtfully curated collection of classic and contemporary paintings, sculptures, tapestries and photographs by renowned and up-and-coming Scandinavian artists, guests have access to a veritable fl oating museum of Nordic riches Ponder the replica helleristninger (rock carvings) – a nod to pre-Viking Age Scandinavia; admire the detailed Bayeux Tapestry, which tells the story of the Battle of Hastings; or be bewitched by Norse mythology under the Yggdrasil-inspired trellis in the Wintergarden, home to the Tree of Life and where the ravens Huginn and Muninn perch on the shoulders of Odin – the god of war M A M S E N' S C R O C K E RY T H E L I V I N G R O O M N O R D I C B L A N K E T S 23 Call us on 138 747 (AU), 0800 447 913 (NZ) or contact your local Viking travel agent
