FURONO CHART PLOTTER MODELS AT ENL
Electronic Navigation Limited has a new range of Furuno
chart plotter models; the 5.7-inch GP-1670/1670F and the
7-inch GP1870/1870F. These new units provide users with fast
performance and intelligent features while remaining compact
in size.
The GP-1670F and GP-1870F are a combination of chart
plotter and fish finder, which feature Furuno's sonar technology
with all-new features such as ACCU-FISH, a unique fish size
assessment function.
ACCU-FISH can detect the size of a fish from 10cm to 199cm
at a depth of between two and 100m. Activating the ACCU-FISH
from the menu the unit will display fish size on the individual
echo. A target depth can also be selected instead of fish size.
Also built into the GP-1670F and GP-1870F Series units is
the new bottom discrimination function. Various modes in the
system will display the most probable material on the seabed
mud, sand, gravel and rock are indicated graphically or with
four colours.
The Bright 800 cd/m2 LCD screen gives readability even in
direct sunlight. Furuno LCDs are bonded, offering a fog-free
structural design.

KARL DOSE COMES TO NEW ZEALAND
Lighthouse Marine Equipment Limited has announced its
appointment to supply Karl Dose marine and commercial
lighting products in New Zealand.
The German firm manufactures high quality commercial
and industrial and ship lighting built to withstand the harshest
operating conditions. Karl
Dose also manufactures
cabling, junction boxes and associated equipment, their lighting
products are used by ship builders, naval yards and industrial
complexes around the world.

FLIR SYSTEMS TERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS
FLIR systems have expanded their range of maritime thermal
imaging cameras with the addition of seven new models.
Four models of Pan/Tilt are available within the MU/MV
series and two static MD-series. The top of the line model is
the FLIR MU-602CLW which features four different payloads
within the same housing. It is an ultra long range multi-sensor
imager which is the most technologically advanced thermal
imager ever released to the recreational user.
For the first time FLIR has packaged a cooled Indium
Antimonide detector (microbolometer). It produces crisp thermal
images of 640 x 480 pixels on which the smallest of details can be
seen and allows for long range detection. For example an object
the size of a small vessel can be detected at a distance of no less
than 15,000m, and a man size target can
be detected at 9000m. Active
gyro-stabilisation provides
steady imagery even in
rough seas. It comes with
a 14 X optical zoom on
the thermal image, plus
it comes equipped with
a daylight colour camera
with a 28 X optical zoom.
