Three-Day Uluru, Kings Canyon & Alice Springs Tour DAY 1: Pick up at your hotel and travel via coach for a three day Uluru & Kings Canyon tour. In the afternoon, journey to the massive series of conglomerate domes named Kata Tjuta, with time en-route for photographic and viewing stops. On arrival, take a walk into Walpa Gorge. Return by coach to the sunset viewing area in time to watch the sunset over Uluru, while enjoying a glass of wine, and nibbles. DAY 2: This morning, join the Uluru Sunrise, Climb or Base Tour, or the Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Base Walk. Both tours include watching sunrise at Uluru, a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole, and to the Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. The first option provides the opportunity to climb Uluru, if desired, for those with a good level of fitness. The second option includes a longer guided walk at the base of Uluru. Time is also available for an optional scenic flight (own expense). In the afternoon, travel to Kings Canyon. DAY 3: Today, join a guided climb to the rim of Kings Canyon for superb views. An easier walk along the boulder strewn canyon floor is available. Travel on to Alice Springs or back to Ayers Rock Resort this afternoon. After dinner, witness the magic of the desert at night as an astronomer takes you on a tour of the clear Southern night skies. Uluru Sunrise & Guided Cultural Base Tour Travel to the sunrise viewing area at the eastern end of Uluru, and watch the first rays of dawn set Uluru and the Red Centre alight, while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. After sunrise, travel by coach to Kuniya Piti, an Aboriginal sacred site at the base of Uluru. Join a guided 1-hour walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole, viewing the natural features of the landscape, Aboriginal paintings, and listening to traditional Aboriginal stories. Travel by coach around the base of Uluru before reaching Kantju Gorge, where, after rainfall, water can cascade over the side of Uluru and plunge some 90 meters to the ground. From here, the Mala Walk commences. Explore one of the most important habitation areas for the Aboriginal people for over thousands of years. Kata Tjuta & Sunset Tour Travel across the sandy desert plains towards the 36 majestic domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), stopping along the way at a lookout to admire the panoramic views. Continue on to arrive at the base of Walpa Gorge. Take the walking trail through Walpa Gorge, and follow the natural creek between two of the largest domes and explore the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. In the late afternoon, travel to the Uluru (Ayers Rock) sunset viewing area. Witness the striking color changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying a glass of wine. DARWIN Afternoon City Sights Tour Enjoy the perfect introduction to Darwin with an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will provide delightful and interesting commentary. Tour highlights include the Botanic Gardens, Stokes Hill Wharf Precinct and Mooring Basin, East Point Reserve, WWII relics, historic city sights, and the Museum & Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and more. (Half-day) Kakadu National Park Depart Darwin and travel east into World Heritagelisted Kakadu National Park, with a breakfast stop enroute (own expense). The parks vast wetlands and ancient escarpment are home to one of Australia's largest and most diverse bird populations and carry outstanding natural and cultural significance. Enjoy lunch at Cooinda before boarding the Yellow Water billabong cruise to view the myriad of birdlife and keep an eye out for crocodiles. Re-board your coach and commence the return journey to Darwin with a stop at Warradjan Aboriginal Culture Centre. One-Day Tiwi Islands Aboriginal Culture Tour Board a 30 minute scenic flight from Darwin Airport to Bathurst Island, where you will join a guided tour through the modern day Aboriginal community of Nguiu. Visit the museum with interesting displays of traditional art and Tiwi "Dreamtime" stories. Join the Tiwi ladies for morning tea and witness traditional totem dances and a smoking ceremony.
