Our two new purpose-built expedition ships carry a fleet of military pro
zodiacs, convertible RIBs, two-seater kayaks and yellow six-seater submarines,
all of which guests can use to explore each destination in more depth —
and at no extra charge. This equipment also allows guests to participate in
collaborative science activities and fieldwork throughout their journey, from
collecting samples to monitoring the migratory patterns of various wildlife.
Field samples collected during excursion craft operations, submarine dives
and landings can then be analysed, interpreted and discussed in the onboard
research lab, which is staffed by our Viking Resident Scientists.
