Contributors p.46 jackie ri v e Jackie Rive is a born and bred entrepreneur who adores the freedom and excitement of owning her own businesses In your opinion, what is the greatest thing to come out of Britain? The greatest thing to come out of Britain would be their comedians. I just love British humour. If you've been, your favourite thing about London: My favourite thing about London is the vitality and buzz of this big city, packed with history and style. Linda gair Linda Gair is an artist who specialises in photography and painting In your opinion, what is the greatest thing to come out of Britain? Apart from the obvious and notably - Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Browning, Beckett, Tennyson then Turner, Constable, Gainsborough, Whistler, Pissarro, Moore, Hockney, Bacon, Lucian Freud, Hirst, Banksy, Grayson Perry… in my opinion one of the greatest things to come out of Britain's 'well-heeled' almost lofty arrogant attitudes and then the more lowly attitudes of self-determination, fortitude and survival - both making their new lives across the globe in the Colonies, has evolved into our own #8 fence-wire approach of 'we can do it uniquely our way and as well as anyone else anywhere' and which we often do, and have done, better! What is your favourite thing about London: The thing that struck me most when first there on a very extended O.E. from 1977, after having competed my Fine Arts degree from Elam, was the fact that I really was experiencing the Monopoly Board. All those famous names and places were there and 'real.' Quotes p.86 "Could it be that the many diet plans and products are in reality not at all helping us to lose weight in the long run? As the old saying goes- 'if it's too good to be true then it probably isn't'." Julz Darroch pg. 51 "Most often I am asked to speak about being taken hostage in Yemen, along with 15 other tourists, in December of 1998. In recent years I have preferred not to speak on that topic, or only incidentally, just because it happened fifteen years ago so is "ancient history" for me now." Mary Quin pg.8 l ind a col es Linda Coles is a professional speaker, author and trainer in the area of social media and building relationships. In your opinion, what is the greatest thing to come out of Britain? The greatest thing to come out of Britain is undoubtedly the music. It's such a varied pot with so much talent and new ideas coming to life all the time. Music, like business has to develop and change with the times, and Britain leads the way. p.27 What is your favourite thing about London: The food! There is so much to choice in London, anything from eating Pie, Mash and Green Gravy at a West Ham soccer game (green gravy is simply parsley sauce) to fine dining at some of the world's posh restaurants. www.h e rmagaz in e .co.n z | 5
