Grape escapists
With wine tourism booming in Australia, tipplers are boosting the coffers of the region's
accommodation providers. The latest Tourism & Transport Forum TTF-HOSTPLUS
National Accommodation Barometer shows that hotel occupancy in wine regions
jumped five points in the September quarter last year, with the Hunter Valley (NSW)
and Margaret River (WA) experiencing the most noticeable spikes. The rise in visits to
viticultural regions can be attributed to a new campaign by Tourism Australia and
Wine Australia that promotes the nation's world-class wine regions. Cheers to that!
