Train of Le Massif de Charlevoix Taking you along the awe-inspiring route from La Malbaie to Québec City, your rail cruising adventure aboard the Train of Le Massif de Charlevoix represents a genuinely wonderful feast for the senses. Sit back and relax in architecturally-inspired rail cars as you pass the picturesque scenery of the St Lawrence River. Throughout, you'll be engaged by a state-of-the-art touristic program. The highlight, though, comes at dinner-time, as you indulge in a four-course fine dining experience, created specifically for the journey by the executive chef of the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. Following a Welcome Breakfast with your fellow travellers this morning, embark on a guided city tour that includes a trip up to the LookOut level of the CN Tower – an icon of the Toronto skyline and the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure, before dinner this evening. BD Day 3. Niagara Falls. Journey to the township of Niagara-on-the-Lake this morning, and enjoy time at leisure to explore. Later, head for famous Niagara Falls, three separate waterfalls that straddle the border between Canada and the USA. On arrival here, perhaps embark on an optional helicopter flight over the falls (own expense). See the plunging waters from a number of vantage points then enjoy a cruise to take in the falls from up close. This evening is then yours to enjoy at leisure. Stay: Hilton Niagara Falls Fallsview. B Day 4. 1,000 Islands, Ottawa. Dine at the top floor of your hotel this morning, enjoying breakfast and incredible views of the falls. Afterwards, set out alongside the shores of Lake Ontario. Stop in Rockport to go for a cruise amid the beautiful 1,000 Islands, which dot the waterways of Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River on the Canada-USA border. During the cruise, you'll glide past some remarkable riverside architecture including holiday cottages, castles and estates, all constructed on the densely vegetated islands. On your return to land, continue by coach to the nation's capital city, Ottawa. Two Night Stay: Ottawa, The Fairmont Château Laurier. BD Day 5. Ottawa, Freedom of Choice Sightseeing. A city tour today includes a visit to Parliament Hill, a National Historic Site that dominates the skyline. After your tour, perhaps explore the Canadian Museum of Civilization; embark on a gourmet culinary tour; or take a guided bicycle tour. Alternatively, learn about the city's darker past this evening during a haunted walking tour. B Day 6. La Malbaie. Today travel north along the St Lawrence River and through the Québec countryside to the heart of the magnificent Charlevoix region. Stop for lunch at a traditional Sugar Shack – Erabliere Chemin du Roy. These Québécois cabane à sucre are famed throughout the region, as they teach visitors about the collection and production of authentic Canadian maple syrup. After a traditional French-Canadian feast with live entertainment, set off on a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Then continue to La Malbaie and your hotel, nestled majestically between the sea and the mountains. Settle in and explore this charming place at leisure before dinner.
