Often, they will take you on tours of discovery, providing you a closer look at the wildlife, the tidewater glaciers, hidden fjords and massive icefields along Alaska's astonishing coast. Other times, in select locations, they'll be used to transport you to smaller ports that even your boutique-size ship can't reach. B ROCKY MOUNTAINEER RAIL JOURNEY Day 3. Kamloops. Relax in your GoldLeaf carriage on the Rocky Mountaineer as you set out into the mountains. Traverse the lush fields of the Fraser River Valley; see the peaks of the Coast Mountains; pass Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon; and glide past rocky slopes as your train follows the Thompson River to Kamloops. Stay: Kamloops, hotel as assigned by Rocky Mountaineer (Kamloops has limited accommodation – two or three-star hotels). BL Day 4. Mount Robson, Jasper. Today your rail adventure continues towards the majestic Canadian Rockies. Follow the North Thompson River through the Monashee Mountains and past Pyramid Creek Falls. See Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, then climb over the Yellowhead Pass on your way to Jasper National Park. Settle in to your Deluxe Room at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Today you might choose to take a Harley Davidson Motorcycle Sidecar Tour; embark on a Maligne Valley Wildlife Experience; go rafting down the Athabasca River; ride the Jasper Tramway; or perhaps set out on an Interpretive Nature Hike. Alternatively – enjoy a treatment at the Fairmont Spa or join a retired Parks Canada ranger for an insight into the management of the park – both of which are available to you exclusively as a Platinum Collection guest. Tonight, dine at one of the restaurants within your hotel. BD Day 6. Icefields Parkway, Athabasca Glacier, Lake Louise, Freedom of Choice Dining. Join the Icefields Parkway today, and travel past the glaciers, icefields, valleys and lakes that straddle the Continental Divide. After pausing to take in Maligne Canyon and Athabasca Falls, stop at the Columbia Icefield and ride an Ice Explorer onto Athabasca Glacier. Later, in Banff National Park, stop at Peyto Lake then continue on to The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
