On your bike
Before leaving Falls Creek this year, I need to give the new craze
of snow biking a crack. Eyeing up the few people I see whizzing
by on these clever contraptions, my first thought is it looks like
a lot of fun. And I'm not wrong. At first it's a strange feeling,
balancing on a low-slung bike seat that is attached to two small
inline skis. But before I know it, I'm getting the hang of it and
flying down the two-kilometre-long Wombat's Ramble. Who
would have thought it, back when there was no-one up on the
mountain except for the hydro-electric workers? And then along
came skis, the only way to enjoy the mountain. Now you can ski,
snowboard, toboggan, snow mobile and snow bike, and see behind
the scenes at night when the snow groomers take to the slopes,
setting the scene for another adventure on the mountain.
