Moscow. On arrival in Moscow, you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a Welcome Reception tonight. Stay: Moscow, Marriott Royal Aurora. D BOARD THE TRANS-SIBERIAN EXPRESS Day 2. Moscow, Freedom of Choice. Today perhaps embark on a city tour and see the Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral. Alternatively, visit Sergiev Posad and Tretyakov Art Gallery, Russia's National Gallery. Later, board the Golden Eagle, and delight in the romance of rail travel as your train is pulled from the station by a Soviet steam locomotive. Twelve Night Stay: the Golden Eagle. BLD Day 3. Kazan. Today, arrive in the historic city of Kazan on the banks of the Volga River. Disembark for a sightseeing tour and visit the World Heritage-listed Kremlin Fortress. Later, continue your journey east. BLD CROSSING THE EUROPE-ASIA DIVIDE Day 4. Yekaterinburg, Freedom of Choice. Cross the Europe-Asia divide and the Ural Mountains, then arrive in Yekaterinburg, where you'll enjoy a choice of two activities. Perhaps take a city tour, then visit the Church Upon the Blood, the site where Czar Nicholas II was executed with his family by the Bolsheviks. Or explore the Museum of Military History, home of the downed American U-2 spy plane, and look at the Cold War through Soviet eyes. BLD 210 Day 5. Novosibirsk. Today experience the rich culture of Novosibirsk. Disembark for a tour that includes the opera house, an architectural marvel that's one of the largest opera houses in the world. In front of the opera house is an imposing statue of the famous Russian leader, Vladimir Lenin, which provides you with a great photographic opportunity. BLD Day 6. On Board. Today unwind in luxury on board your train. Perhaps learn a few words of Russian or sit back and absorb the ever-changing landscape outside your window. BLD Day 7. Irkutsk, Freedom of Choice. Arrive today in Irkutsk, often referred to as the Paris of Siberia. You may like to take a guided city tour and admire the city's distinctive wooden architecture. Alternatively, take part in a fun Russian cooking class. Afterwards, enjoy a private opera performance, reminiscent of those once enjoyed by aristocrats in the 19th century. BLD THE WORLD'S DEEPEST FRESHWATER LAKE Day 8. Lake Baikal, Listvyanka, Freedom of Choice. This morning, absorb the grandeur of Lake Baikal, the world's deepest freshwater lake. Wind through tunnels and along cliff-side tracks overlooking the lake, and stop at the lakeside village of Listvyanka. There, you may wish to learn about the lake's flora and fauna at the Baikal Limnological Museum. Or take a hillside hike for spectacular views. Weather permitting, your train will stop at Angara River at the entrance of Lake Baikal, where you'll enjoy a BBQ of smoked Omul fish, a local delicacy. BLD Day 9. Ulan Ude. Disembark in Ulan Ude for a tour. Enjoy an engaging exploration of the Old Believers Village, where you'll learn about the culture and history of the local people. After indulging in a traditional meal, enjoy a concert featuring local dancers and BLD musicians before rejoining your train. A TASTE OF MONGOLIA Day 10. Ulaanbaatar, Freedom of Choice. Cross the border into Mongolia and visit its capital, Ulaanbaatar. You may like to spend the entire day exploring the city, where you'll see the monument to Genghis Khan. Or venture to the stunning grasslands of Tereij National Park in the afternoon. BLD RUSSIA'S FAR EAST Day 11. On Board. Relax on board as your train travels through the beautiful landscape of Russia's remote far eastern provinces, skirting the border of China. BLD Day 12. On Board. Sit back and relax while you pass by unique Russian scenery, close to the Chinese border. BLD Day 13. On Board. Today is your last day on board. Pass Khabarovsk and cross the River Amur. Tonight, enjoy a final dinner on board. BLD Day 14. Vladivostok, Disembark Golden Eagle. After travelling over 10,500 kilometres, you'll arrive in the port city of Vladivostok. Disembark and take a sightseeing tour of this port city. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner. BLD Stay: Vladivostok, Hotel Hyundai. Day 15. Depart Vladivostok.
