Tonight, enjoy a special Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant. Two Night Stay: Rome, Hotel Bernini Bristol. D Day 2. Rome. Set out this morning on an Ancient Rome tour, visiting some of the city's best Roman sights, including the Pantheon and the Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre built in the Roman Empire. Today, it's considered one of the greatest works of Roman engineering. Later, your guide will take you for an in-depth discovery of the Vatican, where you'll see Michelangelo's renowned artwork in the Sistine Chapel. These intricate frescoes sprawl across the ceiling for over 1,100 metres. After you explore the Vatican Museum, the rest of today is yours to spend at leisure. B Day 4. Isle of Capri, Sorrento, Freedom of Choice. This morning, cruise to the picturesque Isle of Capri. Known in Greek mythology as the isle of the sirens, Capri was a favoured resort of the Roman emperors and remains a popular coastal holiday spot today. On a tour of the island, visit the Marina Piccola (Small Harbour) and the Belvedere of Tragara, which is a high panoramic promenade lined with villas. You'll also see the famed Blue Grotto (weather permitting) and ruins of the Imperial Roman villas. Later, return to Sorrento and choose from two sightseeing activities. Perhaps enjoy a walking tour of Sorrento, where lovely scenery and views of Mt Vesuvius await. Alternatively, journey along one of Europe's most famous coastlines, the World Heritagelisted Amalfi Coast. Delight in the sea views, small inlets and the many picturesque villages dotted along the coast. Enjoy free time to explore the town of Amalfi before returning to Sorrento. This evening, indulge in a delicious dinner at your hotel. Seated on a beautiful terrace overlooking the bay of Naples, you'll savour Mediterranean cuisine in a stunning setting. BD SORRENTO SOJOURN Day 3. Rome, Sorrento. Leave Rome this morning and travel to the coastal town of Sorrento. On your way, stop to visit a traditional, family-owned mozzarella farm for a guided tour. Enjoy a unique local insight into the production of this famous delicacy with a special mozzarella tasting. Two Night Stay: Sorrento, BL Grand Hotel Europa Palace. Day 5. Sorrento, Pompeii, Perugia. On your way to Perugia today, travel to the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, destroyed and buried by a volcano eruption. Rediscovered in 1748, the perfectly preserved ruins of Pompeii are now a World Heritage-listed site and one of Italy's most popular attractions. After a guided tour here, head to the town of Assisi and visit the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi, the birthplace of St Francis.
