was infectious, and though I have to wait until
I've done the original section to give it a go,
before I've even dipped my toes into the icy
water I have the word 'faster' ringing in my ears.
The water in the Thredbo River is clear,
running smoothly over the large, scattered
boulders, and the whole scene is picturesque
and serene. Perhaps we're distracted by the
pretty river or too busy giggling at our strange
attire to register the fact that we'll actually
be getting into the river. The water is icy but
refreshing, and because we'll be paddling and
staying active, the cold temperature won't affect
us. Besides, if you're careful enough you might
not even get wet, assures Georgia.
This extreme li-lo experience is unique
and lots of fun as we rush through the rapids,
bumping into rocks, sometimes swinging around
backwards and dragging over pebbles before
shooting out into the calmer waters of the
eddies that follow. Though it's a fairly new
activity, the guides have already named the
rapids. We tumble over the 'Staircase' and
manoeuvre ungracefully through the 'Coffin'.
