welcome Dear friends of W elcome to the March issue of OUTthere. It's hard to believe we're almost a quarter of the way into 2013. We hope you've been enjoying your travels with Rex so far this year. As highlighted by the Rex Group's downward revised profit guidance for the current financial year (FY12/13), Rex is maintaining cautious optimism for the year ahead. Despite the rigorous measures instigated by the federal government, Rex is committed to providing viable essential regional air services. In late 2012, Transport for NSW announced that Rex would continue to service eight NSW intrastate licensed routes that link Sydney to Bathurst, Broken Hill, Grafton, Merimbula, Moruya, Narrandera, Parkes and Taree. The new five-year licence term commences at the end of this month. With the exception of the Grafton and Taree routes, which Rex commenced in February 2007, Rex has operated regional air services on all other routes since Rex's commencement in August 2002. Prior to that, these routes were operated by Rex's predecessor, Hazelton Airlines. Rex remains committed to employing and retaining the best people in aviation. We are excited to welcome another batch of cadets into our Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA), and proud to provide development opportunities for our established pilots. The Rex Board has sponsored 190 Diplomas in Aviation through the government's Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program (EBPPP) and another 50 have been approved. We hope to see you again as we continue our journey into 2013. From all 1,000 of us at Rex, Air Link, Pel-Air and AAPA, we invite you to sit back, relax and let us do the flying.
