I am working on new and exciting projects for the Viking ocean fleet. I hope to bring more than 20 years of professional experience in polar expedition operations. 3. What do you find most challenging about your Job? Viking delivers cruise experiences at the highest level I've ever experienced. e biggest challenge is maintaining and even lifting the standard for new, future products that I'm working on. Jørn Henriksen Director of Expedition Operations for Viking 4. What is the most rewarding part of your job? I find it extremely satisfying getting direct feedback from our customers and hearing about how they enjoyed the experiences we have put so much effort into creating for them. 5. Do you have a favourite Viking destination? My favourite Viking destination is Tromsø in Norway. is is my hometown, where I grew up. Tromsø is historically known as 'the gateway to the Arctic' and it makes me proud that the town has so much to offer that we choose to stay overnight there on our cruises. I love to see our guests appreciate the Arctic and fall in love with the place for the first time. 6. What has been your standout experience on a Viking cruise & why? I participated on Viking Jupiter's first cruise (shakedown cruise) and I was lucky enough to experience Olympia in Greece. is was really special. It was great to learn about the roots of the Olympic movement and how sports were so very important in ancient times. 7. What experience should be on every traveller's bucket list? Visiting the polar regions — they feature some of the only real wildernesses left on Earth. It's a very strong aesthetic experience and it also gives you the opportunity to spot some very exotic wildlife that have perfectly adapted to the challenging environment. 8. What should travellers expect when they board an Alaska or Northern Lights cruise? ey should expect Arctic conditions to be both cold and windy, but we have a saying in Norway that goes like this: "ere is no such thing as bad weather, only insufficient clothing". Our guests should also expect to be mesmerised by the landscape, the crisp air and the light beyond the Northern Lights — the shades of colours during the sunrise or the sunset that lasts much longer the higher the latitude that you are at.
